Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL) Office of General Counsel seeks 1-2 law students for its 10–12-week full-time paid internship program* during the Summer of 2025. This will not be a remote assignment. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site at ORNL.


 

Scientific discovery is a team effort. We believe the teams required to solve the nation’s most pressing scientific challenges are those that combine a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. Researchers, engineers, and technical and business professionals support achievements in science and technology by helping to manage and operate research projects and facilities.


 

This internship will allow students to work alongside a group of attorneys specialized in different areas of practice, as well as research and business staff to offer a robust and diverse experience.


 

More specifically, this internship will provide law school students with:

• Marketable work experience in a variety of legal fields including

government contracting, intellectual property, employment law,

and environmental health and safety (including nuclear safety and

radiological protection);

• Exposure to the legal issues facing a world class research institution;

• Opportunity to gain an understanding of in-house corporate

counsel practice; and

• An educationally structured work experience.


 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS


 

• U.S. citizen/LPR

• 3.0+ GPA

• Must be enrolled in law school at the time your application for

the internship is submitted.

*Successful applicant may be eligible for a stipend as well as

housing/travel allowance.
