We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join S&Y’s Minneapolis Division. This position will report directly to the Estimating Manager and will be responsible for the completion of paint project estimates. A successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to thrive in a fast-paced construction office environment. This role is expected to have a career trajectory into Project Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze documentation to prepare labor, material and equipment cost estimates
  • Consult with Architects, General Contractors, Vendors, Project Managers and other departments in order to formulate project estimates as well as changes to the project
  • Prepare detailed quantity estimates used by management for purposes of planning, organizing, scheduling and performing the work
  • Review labor, material and equipment requirements to determine best practices for projects

Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in related field or equivalent experience – Four-year degree desirable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and typical office software/hardware
  • Familiarity with cost estimation software
  • Proficient in construction drawing and specification reading
  • Strong mathematical skills, including but not limited to: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to analyze, compare, and interpret detailed information
  • Excellent prioritization/time management skills

Compensation:
