Network Engineer
Job Description:
• Work with Network infrastructure and Telecommunication team leader for upgrading network, implementing wireless solution (Meraki & Cisco) and their support/troubleshooting.
• Work on Cisco Catalyst, Nexus switches and Cisco VoIP devices.
• Implement protocols such as: EIGRP, BGP SSH, TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, routing protocols, L2/L3 switches, VPC, 802.1Q, ether-channel, STP, RSTP, VTP, QoS, ACLs, FTP, DNS, SIP and other common protocols.
• Implement security products firewalls, IPSec, RADIUS, PKI, IKE, Certificates, 802.1Q, MD5, SSH, SSL, SHA1.
• Data gathering of land line at various DCAS buildings where VoIP will be deployed.
• Design of the LAN considering legacy equipment integration/upgrade needs. Upgrading might include patching from patch panel to network device.
• Consultant will be managing the deployment process as follows:
• Unpack the equipment and perform an initial inventory of each item, ensuring that
all components are accounted for before beginning the installation.
• Rack all equipment at each site.
• Remove debris from each location.
• Connect power cords to switch and power outlet and confirm power to unit.
• Connect cables as per Vendor spreadsheet for all network devices.
• Document the equipment onto an inventory spreadsheet.
• Provide documentation via inventory spreadsheet.
• Import asset to DCAS asset inventory system.
• Design recommendations based on CISCO best practice methodology.
• Project planning for the implementation, maintenance window.
• Consultant must be willing to travel to various DCAS buildings across 5 boroughs for data gathering, network deployment and troubleshooting.
• Tasks may include network management, monitoring and troubleshooting tools (sniffer, syslog, NetFlow, TCPDUMP, Wireshark).
• Day to Day configuration, management, and operations of Cisco Firepower firewalls, ISE, Stealthwatch and DNAC.
• Use Cisco Command line interface, Windows, OSX and Linux.
• In certain instances, consultant may be asked to assist in troubleshooting beyond the normal work hours.
• Expected to document networks, network systems, MOPs and other documents that can be used as operational materials.
• Conduct network and security assessments to troubleshoot and optimize network performance and design. Support and lead efforts of the design, testing, evaluation and implementation of new architectures and technologies.
• The team will be required to perform fieldwork, visiting the various DCAS-managed buildings to replace the hardware and address issues, where necessary
