Business Development Intern - Grocery

The Gellert Global Group (GGG) is the largest privately held food importer in the U.S. Comprised of several individual companies, the GGG sources the highest quality cheese, meats, frozen fruit, shelf stable fruit, vegetables, seafood, and specialty products. These items are sourced from over 60 countries and sold to leading retailers, food service distributors, restaurant chains, and food manufacturers. GGG is a third-generation family-run business with 600 employees and combined revenues exceeding $1.7 billion.

Responsibilities:

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, potential clients, and new business opportunities in the food import sector.
  • Analyze market data and competitor strategies to develop informed business development strategies.

Sales and Revenue Generation:

  • Identify and qualify potential leads through various channels, including online research and networking events.
  • Assist in preparing sales presentations, proposals, and promotional materials.
  • Support the sales team in developing and executing sales strategies.

Product Management:

  • Contribute to product development discussions and brainstorming sessions.
  • Assist in the coordination of product launches, promotions and daily activity.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, logistics, and finance, to ensure seamless coordination in delivering high-quality products and services.
  • Support business development in all other business aspects.

Other responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Weekly & Monthly Reporting
  • Sample Requests for all BDMs
  • Inventory Position Reports
  • Involvement in warehouse projects to understand our supply chain
  • CRM SOPs- using a Test Site account
  • Gap Analysis reporting
  • Pre Summer-Fancy Food Show reporting and presentation material
  • Create and/or update presentation material
  • Continued work on items missing from the PIM

Qualifications:

  • Rising Junior or Senior in college/university, pursuing bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Strong business acumen and analytical ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and bias for action
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated personal and professional values
