Part-time Water Quality Technician
Incumbent serves as Part-time Water Quality Technician for the Health Department, responsible for protecting environmental welfare of County residents by investigating/analyzing hazardous conditions, enforcing local, state, and federal codes, and educating the public. Work is Seasonal based from May to August.
DUTIES:
Maintains detailed computer records and organized document files for all activities as required.
Inspects public and semi-public swimming pools to ensure compliance with local/state/federal standards for water chemistry/quality and safety, including inspecting pool sites, checking safety devices, reviewing operating records and water sampling results, using test kit to evaluate chemical concentrations in the water, and initiating action to resolve problems, completing entry of weekly water sample results into county database, participating in monthly recreational water sampling.
Receives and investigates complaints regarding water quality. Prepares and mails code violation notices to property owners, responds to inquiries, and conducts follow-up inspections to ensure compliance.
Performs related duties as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent with continued education in related fields of biology, entomology, or environmental health, environmental science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required.
