Communications Specialist
Status: Exempt, Hybrid: Remote (Wednesdays and Fridays) and On Campus (Mondays. Tuesdays, and Thursdays), 37.5 hours per week
Summary of Responsibilities: The person in this position possesses the ability to think both creatively and analytically. You will be responsible for producing communications materials. Iliff’s audiences consist of students, staff, faculty, board members, alumni, donors, friends, and the general public.
The person in this position will collaborate in developing broad communications strategies across diverse and emerging media, implementing, and developing campaigns to reach and engage multiple audiences. This position reports to the Marketing & Public Relations Director.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication strategies and plans that align with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
- Create and manage content for communications, including newsletters, videos, intranet, email, announcements, social media posts, and other communications.
- Design and produce communications materials, such as graphics, posters, newsletters, videos, and presentations.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including, but not limited to, the Office of the President, the Office of the Dean, the Office of Institutional Advancement, Enrollment, the Center for Theological Innovation, and the Library, to ensure alignment of communications initiatives.
- Monitor communications channels for feedback, comments, and possible removal..
- Measure and track the effectiveness of communications programs.
- Respond to inquiries from Iliff’s potential and existing constituencies and provide timely and accurate information.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Past experience building audiences either online or offline
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to develop original content
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse populations
- Critical-thinker and problem-solver, with high emotional and social intelligence
- Understanding of web publishing requirements (including the Americans with Disabilities Act)
- Knowledge of various communications channels, such as digital signage, intranet, email, and social media
- Demonstrate strong project management and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Constant Contact, Notion, Slack, and other content management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Education:
BA/BS degree in communications, journalism, English or related field, or equivalent working experience
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time (Approximately 65% of the position is spent in a stationary position.)
- Must be able to input information into and retrieve information from a computer, communicate, and exchange information for extended periods of time
- Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
- Ability to move up to 50lbs.
- Ability to independently travel, especially travel by car; must have a valid driver’s license.
Work Environment:
Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.

Position Annual Salary Range: $56,671 - $70,000
Benefits: Currently includes medical, dental, life and disability insurance, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and a tax-deferred annuity plan.
