Thunderbird for Boys and Thunderbird for Girls are in Bemidji, Minnesota and operate independently with a spirit of cooperation. We are two miles apart and staff are able to socialize on time off. Our communities are an eclectic mix of campers and staff from more than 8 countries, 25 states, and 70+ suburbs across the US. We hire over 100 staff between our two camps.
Thunderbird is a place where staff expands their leadership and communication skills while teaching and working closely with campers. We are a stepping stone to related youth and adult-oriented fields and we love to help launch our staff and campers.
- Activity and Cabin Staff To Teach - These staff also work and live with campers. Instruct in Land Sports, Canoeing, Windsurfing, Ski Boat driver/Instructor, Sailing, Swimming, Lifeguard, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Fishing, Horseback English and Western, Music, Climbing, Tennis, and Riflery.
- Activity Specialist: No camper responsibilities. Instruct in Arts and Crafts, Ceramics, Ski boat Driver, Horseback to name a few.
- Trip Leaders: Hiring for wilderness camp program. Lead out trips in MN, MI, WI, and BWCA for 4-9 day backpack and canoe trips. No age restrictions
- T-Bird Expeditions: Pacific Northwest, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, and more. Must be 21 and have a clean driving record
- Kitchen Staff: Chefs and prep cooks
- Office Staff: Office Manager and Office Assistants.
- Leadership Team: Program, Waterfront and Unit Directors
Contract dates are June 5 - August 8, 2025 with optional additional work available.
The salary includes: room and board, a travel stipend, stipend based on qualifications, current certs, etc.
Paid Certifications Available: Lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid, and Wilderness First Responder Certification.
