Available immediately --- Dr. Carlos Lavernia has a position available for a Research associate . Our center is engaged in long-term clinical outcomes studies on joint replacement surgeries and has a rapidly expanding patient registry of over 7,000 total hip and knee replacements. Surgical interventions include primary and revision surgery performed making use of conventional approaches as well as cutting-edge robotic technology. Responsibilities include but are not limited to data collection, research subject evaluations, literature review, manuscript preparation, and working in close conjunction with medical students and fellows as well as clinical epidemiologists on the different ongoing projects. The candidate will be encouraged to develop his/her own independent and collaborative research.
Specific Tasks
Assisting in the preparation of abstracts and presentations (i.e., poster, e-Poster, podium presentations) for state, regional, and national conferences or meetings.
- Write or contribute to publications (assists in the preparation of manuscripts for medical journals) or disseminate research findings using appropriate media.
- Review and synthesize the outcome of research studies applying statistical techniques and scientific knowledge, prepare reports, and present findings.
- Interpret findings obtained from research projects and develop new insights, expanding, refining, and testing hypotheses and ideas.
- Contribute to the methodological design of research study and data collection adn analyisis
- Make presentations at conferences or exhibit work in other appropriate events.
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings.
- Continually update knowledge and understanding of orthopedic diseases.
- Prepare weekly research update reports with upcoming deadlines.
- Prepare weekly preoperative score reports.
- Actively participate as a member of the research team.
- Work with colleagues on joint projects, as required. Provide academic leadership to those working within research – for example, by helping coordinate the work of others to ensure that research projects are delivered effectively and on time. Resolve problems of meeting research objectives and deadlines.
- Act as a team leader.
Qualifications
Applications from interested candidates (M.D./M.S./M.P.H., Ph.D.) are encouraged from highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in total joint replacement research. Strong written and oral bilingual (English and Spanish) communication skills are required, in addition to a solid knowledge base of Windows and IOS operating systems as well as commonly used software including Microsoft Office®. Database management and statistical analysis (e.g., SAS, SPSS) experience is also a plus.
Compensation will be commensurate with the level of experience and will be competitive with similar positions nationally.
