Major & Planned Giving Officer

The Major & Planned Gifts Officer is a member of the leadership team of the LifeScape Foundation responsible for developing strong relationships with donors across South Dakota. Key responsibility areas include annual and major gift solicitation, planned giving program development and donor stewardship of corporate and individual donors. 

This individual should be knowledgeable of development strategies and skills pertinent to capital campaigns, personal solicitations, and donor retention. This position requires the ability to handle multiple deadlines and adaptability to accommodate changing situations and workloads. LifeScape is looking for someone with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong listening abilities.

LifeScape is seeking a passionate and experienced Major & Planned Gifts Officer to lead our efforts in securing financial support for our mission. The ideal candidate will have a track record of successful fundraising, excellent relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of philanthropic practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages the development and growth of the organization’s major and planned giving programs.
  • Develops, maintains, and stewards positive relationships that result in estate gifts and major gift support via personal contact, and other fundraising tactics.
  • Manages a portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects including identification of prospects, analyzing affinity and capacity to give and nurturing relationships maximizing donor engagement and retention.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Foundation President to establish solicitation priorities, manage prospect lists and research, develop, and execute targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies for major gift prospects.
  • Manages the preparation and maintenance of personalized proposals and supports the foundation staff, LifeScape CEO and members of the Boards of Directors in their solicitation activities
  • Work with the philanthropy, grants, services, and marketing teams to plan, implement, and coordinate effective multi-year fundraising strategies.
  • Builds constituency and public support within the service area and beyond through appropriate professional organizations and service clubs through membership and presentations
  • Execute and report on quarterly/annual fundraising plans, donor solicitations, identification, cultivation, campaigns and stewardship efforts for major gift and planned giving prospects.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to provide information and prepare reports on the progress and success of fundraising activities as needed for leadership and donor communications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals (CFRE) or the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy preferred.  At least five years direct fundraising experience in capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving preferred.
