News Production Manager

Are you an experienced leader with a passion for television production and cutting-edge automation technologies? WDRB is seeking a talented News Production Manager to oversee daily operations of our Production Department.

This role focuses on project management, staff development, and ensuring seamless newscast productions. The immediate priority will be implementing robotic cameras for the studio.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Team Management

  • Oversee staff responsible for producing live and pre-recorded newscasts.
  • Handle hiring, training, and discipline to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Act as a mentor, ensuring the team is well-versed in operating control room equipment and studio cameras.

Operational Oversight:

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day production operations, including control room and studio functions.
  • Support on-air graphic displays and proper lighting of news sets.
  • Oversee OTT workflows, including resolving technical issues.

Project Management:

  • Manage full-cycle capital projects, from research to implementation.
  • Handle operating and capital budgets efficiently and strategically.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in television production environment.
  • Experience in the areas of studio camera operation, graphics operation, technical directing, directing, and producing.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Apple, Adobe Creative Cloud, Chyron, Ross Video, Avid, and related software/programs.
  • Ability to act as backup operator for control room is a plus.

Leadership & Organizational Skills

  • Proven experience managing teams and budgets.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience with project management.
  • Positive attitude and ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with change management.
