General Description: The Booking Technician is a highly accountable clerical position responsible for reviewing all court documents on current inmates.
Essential Job Functions: The technician will be required to document and calculate judicial orders into the J.M.S. and Time Served website while also updating inmate’s files. The technician will review inmate’s files who are scheduled to attend advisory hearings to ensure credit for time served is correct and verified. The technician will complete packages on inmates who meet requirements of F.S. 394.913 Sexually Violent Predator Program and mail to D.C.F. S.V.P.P. Team. This position will calculate appropriate gain time awards and transfer the calculations to J.M.S. to ensure appropriate release dates are reflected. This position will review and transfer all inmate files to intake/release, prior to the inmate being released from the facility on a time served sentence or prior to any other court ordered release. The technician will answer inmate requests and will communicate with the courts. Will be responsible for tracking of State custody inmates, preparing state inmates for return, placing holds and arranging transports. Ability to lift up to 30lbs. Requires standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and stooping, sometimes for extended periods of time. Performs related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Office policy and procedures.
Knowledge of FMJS/FCAC rules and regulations.
Knowledge of Florida Statutes.
Knowledge Clericus systems, jail management system and computer systems.
Knowledge of State Criminal Alien Assistance Program.
Knowledge of Parole, Interstate Compacts, Fugitive from Justice, and Probation.
Knowledge of Department of Corrections intake procedures, holds and commitment packs.
Knowledge of Human Diversity awareness.
Ability to operate personal computer as assigned for position.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of inmate records.
Ability to perform mathematical computation of inmate sentences.
Ability to relate to inmates and the public.
Minimum Requirements:
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Performs duties in a correctional/office setting and has minimal inmate contact. Ability to work shifts. Ability to work in hazardous conditions. Ability to stand, kneel, twist, crouch and stoop. Ability to lift 30lbs.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associate degree in Accounting or related field and one (1) year of secretarial/clerical and maintenance of records experience OR graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and three (3) years' of secretarial/clerical and maintenance of records experience. Familiarization with J.M.S. and Clericus preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Unescorted CJIS clearance as authorized by FDLE is required.
