Immigration Legal Intern- Summer
The Immigration Legal Intern Summer position is for an outgoing student looking to learn more about immigration law, immigration legal practice, and a private immigration law firm office environment. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal assistance such as, but not limited to, attending court hearings, filing court pleadings, drafting legal writing, and general administrative tasks as need. All responsibilities will be performed under the supervision of an attorney.
Responsibilities
- Submit pleadings and fillings to the appropriate Courts, including Probate and Family courts around Massachusetts and Immigration courts in Massachusetts
- Provide support to attorney in all legal drafting of memos, affidavits, case filings, and other supporting documents for case preparation, under the guidance of supervising attorney
- Administratively support trials
- Maintain office and client database with updated case and client information
- Light office/ administrative duties on the days present at the office
- Assist attorney in day-to-day admin tasks.
Requirements and skills
- Proven working experience as a writer and drafting documents
- Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court systems preferred but not required
- Computer literacy (Microsoft office)
- Proficiency in English required, Spanish fluency preferred
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and remotely
Compensation:
- Starting at: $16.50 / hr.
Benefits:
- Not eligible for benefits, but position may become permanent.
