Public Administration/ Educational Leadership (Summer Intern)

As we expand and prepare for an exciting transition to a new facility, we are seeking a motivated and resourceful Summer Intern to join our leadership team for a 4-week paid internship.

The term period is flexible but will last 4 weeks and occur during the summer. 

Position Summary
This internship offers a unique opportunity for a college student to gain hands-on experience in educational leadership, project planning, and school operations. The intern will work closely with the school’s leadership team on critical projects that prepare the school for a successful academic year and the move to a state-of-the-art facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the leadership team on strategic planning and project management for the upcoming school year.
  • Assist with school operations, including inventory management, classroom preparation, and logistical planning for the move to a new facility.
  • Support administrative tasks, including data analysis, scheduling, and communications with staff and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on best practices in school operations and planning.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving and decision-making discussions.
  • Provide general support to the leadership team, including organizing materials and coordinating resources.

Qualifications

  • Current college student with an interest in education, nonprofit management, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace tools.
  • A commitment to supporting the mission of Durham Charter School.

Work Schedule
The internship will require a commitment of 4 weeks, with approximately 30 hours per week. Work will primarily take place on-site at Durham Charter School, with some flexibility for remote work depending on project needs.
