Intern, Enterprise Risk Management

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2025. Resume review begins in January 2025. 

Position Description 

As an intern, you will be working within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function. ERM manages the organization's risk management strategy and is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the company's operations, finances, reputation, and stakeholders. 

The intern will leverage analytical tools and develop modeling to support risk management activities using data from across the organization, including R&D, Commercialization, Manufacturing and Corporate Functions. 

  • Research scoring methodologies for corporate risks
  • Analyze historical data, external inputs and benchmarking to identify industry trends and inform future risk scenarios
  • Determine best practice principles for risk identification and quantification.
  • Prototype risk reports, dashboards, modeling and analytics for the corporate risk register

Example projects may include: 

  • Corporate risk register database and dashboard
  • Quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze risk and model potential scenarios
  • Risk exposure metrics, reports and quantitative support for mitigation strategies

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and assess complex risks.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and risk management tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations and compliance requirements.

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university, with a graduation date no earlier than August 2025.

Education 

  • MBA or Bachelor's (BA) or master’s (MA) in Risk, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field

Location

  • This role is hybrid in Cambridge, MA.
