Public Affairs Intern
DeMenna Public Affairs is seeking a public affairs intern to join the team.
The intern will work a minimum of 3 days a week for approximately 8 hours each day. Ideally the intern would work from January through the end of the academic semester; however, once hired the student may have the option to continue their internship through the end of the 2025 legislative session. Interns receive a stipend and can earn college credit upon successful completion of the internship.
The interns will be heavily involved in the state legislative process as well as public policy matters to assist the firm in advocating on behalf of its clients. This position may include direct contact with clients, elected officials and their staff, leading industry lobbyists, and policy experts.
The main duties will include:
· Attending legislative committee hearings;
· Office and clerical duties;
· Writing committee summaries;
· Preparing bill summaries;
· Performing and presenting research;
· Scheduling meetings with key lawmakers and staff; and
· Other specific duties.
Preferred qualities and qualifications include:
· Strong verbal and written communication skills;
· Desire to work in Government Relations preferred;
· Computer proficiency;
· Ability to write copy and create visual content neatly and accurately;
· Junior or Senior preferred.
Interns are supervised and mentored by experienced lobbyists. The interns will be given feedback on writing, speaking, and professionalism throughout the internship and will leave with a thorough understanding of the legislative process.
