MSU PEARL Summer Internship
The Morgan State University Patuxent Environmental and Aquatic Research Laboratory (MSU PEARL) 2025 Summer Internship Program provides students with hands-on experience in marine and environmental science research.
Interns will work in one of the MSU PEARL's core research areas:
- Aquaculture and Shellfish Genomics
- Biogeochemistry
- Ecology
- Environmental Economics
Skills Required: This is a learning opportunity for students, so no specific skills are required. However, depending on the project they choose and are assigned to, applicants should be comfortable with working in wet and muddy conditions, working with live animals, working in a laboratory, and working with Microsoft Office products (or equivalent).
Minimum Requirements: There is no minimum GPA or required courses necessary to apply for this internship. However, we expect that applicants have some background knowledge in biology, chemistry, ecology, and/or economics.
This internship is open to US citizens and permanent residents who are enrolled as undergraduates in colleges and universities in the United States.
Applicants who have graduated in the past two years are also eligible to apply (graduation date of May 2023 or later).
Expected Responsibilities: Interns will work with a research mentor at the MSU PEARL for 10 weeks, 40 hours per week. Research projects will be designed under the guidance of a MSU PEARL research mentor and will be completed by the end of the internship. Results will be presented at the Annual MSU PEARL Summer Internship Symposium at the end of the internship.
