Media Localization Specialist

Summary:

Excellent opportunity for recent college graduate with strong knowledge of video editing software and who is also fluent in Japanese!

This position is responsible for adapting and localizing media content for targeted markets through video editing, script editing and use of AI tools and applications to assist with the localization process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*: 

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Creating broadcast ready media localized for the Japanese market.
• Edit and adapt audio and video content to meet the cultural and linguistic requirements of specific markets.
• Integrate subtitles, voiceovers, and visual elements tailored to specific markets.
• Maintain high-quality production standards across multiple video formats and platforms.
• Collaborate with native speakers to ensure localized content aligns with regional norms, sensitivities and other requirements.
• Adapt scripts and visual elements while preserving the intent and emotional impact of the original content. 
• Adapt scripts for localized voiceovers and subtitles in collaboration with translation teams.
• Identify and adapt marketing claims in collaboration with translation teams.
• Ensure that scripts are linguistically accurate and culturally appropriate for the target audience.
• Leverage AI tools for transcription, translation, voice synthesis, and other media generation functions to streamline localization workflows.
• Export video in appropriate formats.
• Stay updated on emerging AI technologies and solutions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and creative departments, to align localization efforts with brand and project goals.
• Perform final quality checks on localized media to ensure consistency, accuracy, and technical excellence
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical or linguistic issues in localized content.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality. 
• Manage translations between Japanese and English.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:                                                 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or more than 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
• Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g. Adobe Audition, Audacity, Garage Band).
• Familiarity with subtitling tools (e.g., Aegisub, Subtitle Edit) and translation management systems.
• Experience with AI tools like machine translation, voice cloning, and automated transcription software. In general, working with the iterative process of generative AI.
• Scriptwriting and adaptation experience, with a focus on preserving narrative and cultural nuances.
• Fluency in Japanese, both oral and written communication, is a plus.

Computer Skills:                                               

In addition to above listed technical skills, in order to perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite products and Adobe CS suite. Proficiency in Mac is an asset.
