Manager of Curriculum Development for Christian Schools

The Manager of Curriculum Development for Christian Schools is responsible for overseeing the development of Christian school curriculum for elementary through high school ages in multiple subject areas such as Bible, history, apologetics, science, and more. This role will manage a team of curriculum writers while working with other AiG departments for design, production, and marketing of materials to ensure that the projects are completed on time. This position requires extensive knowledge of Christian school curricula and Answers in Genesis positions, content, and materials.

Experience with managing large, editorial-type projects is important. Candidates should be familiar with developing workflows that encompass writers, editors, designers, and other product-related roles, such as branding, web, and marketing. The ideal candidate will also have extensive professional experience in writing and editing curriculum, and/or developing educational content to assist with quality assurance during a project cycle. Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision-making ability, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks for team members are equally important.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create biblical worldview educational curriculum for K-12th grade Christian school education
  • Delegate responsibilities and oversee the day-to-day operations of the team of writers who develop content for various grades and subjects from a biblical worldview that is academically rigorous and incorporates presuppositional apologetics
  • Consult with subject matter experts to create scope and sequence, course content, and learning objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for the design, production, and marketing of curricula
  • Coordinate with web design for the education digital platform
  • Oversee skill assessments and collect input to identify training or development needs
  • Maintain and effectively communicate the vision and purpose for a curriculum throughout the development cycle
  • Promote the Answers in Genesis, Creation Museum, and Ark Encounter mission
  • Design and implement instructional strategies
  • Respond to curriculum inquiries
  • Provide reports to leadership
  • Hiring of team members
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Regular attendance at a local, Bible-believing church
  • Extensive knowledge of creation/evolution issues
  • Thorough working knowledge of presuppositional apologetics, especially in relation to young-earth/biblical creation
  • Must be able to work on-site at the offices of Answers in Genesis
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Research skills
  • Ability to work independently while creating a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action using wise judgement and decision-making processes
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign a plus
  • Aptitude for computers and technology
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Ability to train and mentor writers
  • Ability to effectively make and communicate decisions related to curricula
  • Ability to give and receive criticism with a graceful and teachable spirit

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in curriculum development, instructional design, education, or a related field
  • Two years of experience in curriculum development and Christian school classroom teaching
  • Knowledgeable in the area of Bible and apologetics
