Operations Maintenance Technician

 

Operations Maintenance Technician -  Part-time

Rate: $15.00/hour – starting rate based on prior experience and education

Location: Multiple park locations throughout Lake County, OH

Position Description: 

Under direction of Park Maintenance Superintendent or Park Maintenance Regional Supervisor, the Operations Maintenance Technician performs building and grounds maintenance at various Lake Metroparks parks and facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Performs daily custodial and janitorial tasks to park buildings, facilities, and amenities including cleaning restrooms and shelters; ensuring restrooms are stocked with necessary supplies; emptying trash/recycling; ensuring campsites and other park amenities are clean and stocked with adequate supplies.
  • Performs mowing, general landscaping, and landscape maintenance throughout the year and snow and ice control in winter by means of snow plowing or other means of mechanical removal, shoveling and/or treatment.
  • Preforms troubleshooting, basic repairs and maintenance to buildings and grounds-related amenities including plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Performs special projects including trail maintenance; assists with tree removals; assists in the construction of park amenities.
  • Operates and maintains all types of equipment in good working order.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 1-2 years of experience and knowledge of building & grounds maintenance, janitorial, landscaping and mechanical techniques and skills.
  • 1-2 years of experience operating trucks, trailers, and equipment associated with landscape maintenance, such as mowers, snowplows, tractors, and skid steers.

Position Requirements: 

  • Basic skills in construction, painting, painting, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
  • Ability to write and speak in a clear and concise manner.
  • Skilled in customer service and interpersonal communication with the ability to interact professionally with all types of people.
  • Ability to productively work with limited supervision and must be self-directed.
  • Ability to follow directions and set priorities.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Variable work schedule, up to 28 hours per week.
  • Required to work flexible hours, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Required to frequently travel to area parks and other locations.
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license and insurable on the Agency’s liability policy. Background check required.
