Position Title: Event Planning Intern
Join Main Street Barberton, a dynamic organization revitalizing downtown Barberton through arts, culture, and community events. As the Planning Intern, you will play a pivotal role in organizing the second annual Magic City Arts & Music Festival, a flagship event celebrating arts, music, and culture in Summit County.
The 2025 festival aims to expand its impact, solidifying its place as a signature annual event. The event will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Your work as an intern will contribute to its growth, ensuring it continues to attract attendees, stakeholders, and sponsors while delivering an exceptional experience for all involved.
Job Duties:
- Strategic Planning: Assist in developing plans to expand festival programming, including identifying diverse performers, visual artists, and cultural activities.
- Event Coordination: Support logistical planning, including scheduling, vendor management, and site coordination.
- Marketing and Outreach: Collaborate on promotional campaigns to attract attendees from across Northeast Ohio and beyond, utilizing social media, email, and local media outlets.
- Social Media: Help create posts, events, newsletters, and video for social media and keep up with current trends to advertise events.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Help build relationships with sponsors, community partners, and local businesses to secure their involvement and support.
- On-site Support: Participate in on-the-ground execution during the event, including setup, volunteer coordination, and attendee engagement.
Employment Type: 100 hrs | Hybrid | Internship

Qualifications:
- A current student at The University of Akron with an interest in arts administration, event planning, marketing, non-profit administration, or community development.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Creative thinker with the ability to problem-solve and adapt to dynamic challenges.
- Passionate about arts, culture, and community revitalization.
- Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of the City of Barberton is a plus.
