Elementary Literacy Tutor

Hours are 9-11a, Monday through Thursday. We follow the school calendar - holidays guaranteed off!

Program Description: Mentors in Toledo Schools (MiTS) is a literacy-based tutoring program for students in grades K-3 in several Toledo Public Schools. Students receive one-to-one tutoring during the regular school day. The primary focus is on reading intervention and supporting classroom literacy instruction, while also building relationships between students and mentors to assist in student social-emotional development.

Job Description: The Tutor will assist the Site Coordinator with evidence-based tutoring practices, provide volunteer support, and assist with basic site coordination needs. The Tutor may be asked to cover certain site operations in the event of the Site Coordinator’s absence.

Reports to: Program Manager and Site Coordinator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete all mandatory training
  • Provide reliable academic assistance to students in the program 2-4 days per week
  • Follow evidence-based tutor practices as outlined by Partners in Education
  • Assist Site Coordinator with basic site coordination needs as necessary
  • Help fill gaps in programming due to mentor or site coordinator absences
  • Other duties as necessary

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

● Effective organization and communication skills

● Ability to perform duties with awareness of office policies

● Proficiency in Google Workspace

● Ability to multitask and be flexible

● Must meet background check requirements

Job Type: Part-time, exempt 6-8 hours per week, $15/per hour. Schedule corresponds with academic calendar.
