Opportunity

Gladstone Place is seeking a high-achieving analyst who is curious, adaptable and detail-oriented with an interest in communications, media, finance and capital markets. Analysts are client-facing and perform a variety of research duties as well as provide general support to client teams, including media monitoring, preparing media lists, reporter backgrounders, and conference/events calendars, while supporting development of key communications materials (e.g., press releases, memos, talking points, FAQs). This is a unique opportunity to intern at a leading boutique financial communications firm whose work spans across various sectors and industries and combines finance, consulting and communications/media experience.

The team at GPP works on some of the most complex strategic and financial communications matters, from large cross-border transactions and crisis situations to activist shareholder defense and sensitive financial disclosures. As part of the internship experience, interns will become familiar with the firm’s various areas of expertise, including mergers & acquisitions, investor relations, quarterly earnings and announcements, crisis communications and reputation management, shareholder activism and takeover planning and defense, corporate governance topics, thought leadership and ESG (environmental, social and governance).

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • General research responsibilities include producing thoughtful research and analyses on strategic topics involving clients, media, industries, and trends
  • Maintain media lists for client teams
  • Assist with creating/editing presentations and client work product         
  • Follow, distribute and analyze real-time media and analyst coverage around announcements and ongoing client news
  • Account management including note taking, organization and scheduling internal and client meetings     
  • Keep team lists updated 
  • Help manage internal and external events
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Support firm’s internal initiatives, such as newsletter, marketing and new business         

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • One-year prior experience in a fast-paced professional services or internships in a finance, media or PR capacity is preferred 
  • Interest and/or curious about the intersection of communications, finance and media
  • Exceptional research, writing and verbal communication skills
  • Team player and self-starter who is comfortable with change and able to handle unpredictable (but interesting) client engagements and workhours
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask competing priorities
  • Proactive approach to responsibilities and eager to take on new challenges
  • Exhibit extreme discretion with confidential client matters
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Knowledge of Factiva, Bloomberg, Cision, Sentieo, Roxhill, Insightia, social media and other research tools preferred

 

Reports to: Partner, People & Administration

Hybrid schedule: In-person Monday – Thursday, remote/flexible on Friday

Classification: Exempt   

Base salary range: $60,000 - $75,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the position; market considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
