Clinical Research Coordinator in Neuropathology

We are seeking promising students for a clinical research coordinator role in the neuropathology department at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The position includes both research and patient-facing responsibilities, and focuses on coordinating the Brigham Brain Donation Hub, a tissue and clinical data repository of brain tissue from neurodegenerative diseases. Thus, the candidate should have excellent organization and strong interpersonal skills for interacting with both patients and families as well as collaborators interested in utilizing brain tissue for research.

The donation program is directed by Dr. Michael Miller, and the candidate will be a part of the Miller lab, located on the Harvard Medical School Longwood Campus. The lab is based in the Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Pathology and is affiliated with the Brigham and Women's Hospital Department of Neurology, Boston Children's Hospital Division of Genetics and Genomics, and the Broad Institute. Some tissue banking responsibilities may extend to the Dana Farber Department of Pathology.

The Miller lab seeks to understand the mechanisms underpinning neurodegenerative diseases, using a combination of neuropathological, single-cell, genomics, and biochemical approaches. One major scientific focus is on the causes and impact of somatic mutations in brain cells in neurodegeneration, including single-cell research in the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award program. Lab members will have the opportunity to learn disease biology with Dr. Miller and other physician collaborators.

This position is ideal for students taking two gap years before pursuing MD or MD-PhD degrees. Qualified students will have an outstanding scholastic record, prior research experience, and are fresh undergraduates (no Master's or post-college years). Interested students can find more information about the Miller lab on our website: www.mbmillerlab.org.

Please include a CV, transcript, and names and contact information for three references. Please also include a cover letter describing your previous research and lab experience, technical and administrative skills, your career goals, and what about our lab interests you.
