Job Summary

Kahawa Coffee is seeking a dedicated and experienced Barista/Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure exceptional customer service. This full-time role requires a hands-on leader who excels in coffee preparation, team management, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to building a welcoming community environment.

Key Responsibilities

Barista Duties:

  • Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and specialty beverages to Kahawa Coffee’s high standards.
  • Maintain and operate espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment with care.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and customer areas.
  • Provide customers with menu recommendations and education about our offerings.
  • Monitor and restock coffee, milk, syrups, and other inventory items.

Managerial Duties:

  • Lead, train, and motivate the café staff to deliver outstanding service.
  • Manage staff schedules, ensuring full coverage during operating hours.
  • Oversee daily cash handling, reconcile sales, and prepare operational reports.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues to maintain satisfaction.
  • Collaborate on promotional campaigns, events, and seasonal offerings.

Community Engagement:

  • Build relationships with local organizations, businesses, and customers.
  • Represent Kahawa Coffee at community events to enhance visibility and foster connections.
  • Develop initiatives to increase customer loyalty and encourage repeat visits.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a barista, with expertise in coffee preparation techniques.
  • Prior managerial or supervisory experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Passion for coffee culture and customer service excellence.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management tools.
  • Experience in local marketing and community engagement activities.
  • Certification in Food Safety or advanced Barista Training is a plus.
