Job Description

 

Reports to:  VP Operations                                                               Dept:  Operations

Employee Category:  Non-Exempt Hourly                                                                            Hours / week:  40++

 

General Duties:

 

Plan, direct, or coordinate the operations of a project or projects. Duties and responsibilities include pre-job planning, identifying materials and labor needs, coordinating resource allocation, and monitoring project progress.  Serve as primary liaison for customer personnel on assigned projects.

Duties/Tasks:

 

1) Meet with Operations Manager pre-shift to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements.

2) Review project bid estimate to ensure an understanding of the project labor, equipment and material expectations as well as safety and other requirements of the customer.

3) Perform or coordinate project layouts if needed.

4) Coordinate JULIE requirements and restrictions.

5) Attend customers’ pre-construction meetings.

6) When possible, attend project progress meetings.

7) Maintain necessary tools and ensure they are on the project when needed.

8) Obtain labor requirements in both estimated form for project duration as well as for specific dates and activities on project.

9) Work with Resident Engineers to ensure accurate and timely quantity confirmation.

10)  Inspect jobsites and take necessary action when needed.

11)  Ensure that all pay item quantities are accurately reported to Resident Engineer and to Operations.

12)  Working with Operations Manager, handling all communications with traffic safety workers.

13)  Participate in all email communications from customers, along with VP of Operations and Operations Manager.

14)  Lead safety program development and implementation, coordinating with training needs as necessary.

15)  Participate in on-the-job training for Traffic Safety Workers with regard to road skills, paperwork processing, and other duties. 

16) Other duties as assigned.

2) Deliver information -- Provide information to customers, supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Document all communications as necessary and practical.

4) Resolve Conflicts with Others -- Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiate with others.

5) Evaluate Information to Determine Compliance with Policies -- Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with Policies.

6) Make Decisions and Solve Problems -- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

8)  Safety -- Ensure the safe operations of all employees and compliance with all safety policies.

9)  Safeguard Company Assets -- Ensure that all Company assets are properly handled and maintained and all measures to mitigate losses are prioritized.

Knowledge and Experience:

 

1) Standards and Specifications -- Knowledge of highway construction standards, specifications, special provisions, etc., in place with agencies in the geographic business coverage area.

2) Customer Service -- Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and providing products or services in a solutions-oriented approach in assisting customers. This may include marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

6) Safety -- Knowledge of relevant equipment, OSHA regulations, company safety policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe and compliant operations for the protection of people and property.

7) Production and Processing -- Knowledge of all materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective performance of services.

8) ATSSA Trained and Certified – All relevant training in traffic control, pavement marking, flagger, and inspection programs is required.
