Kitchen Intern

Serving at camp allows college students the opportunity to develop core competencies necessary for succeeding in many of life’s endeavors. Training, coaching, and mentorship are provided throughout the experience. Shift Managers develop and refine many transferable skills as they take on the responsibilities outlined below.

Cook. This is, in large part, a job that involves cooking. We prepare meals for 350 people, three times a day, all summer long. Our team cuts, chops, bakes, steams, cooks, roasts and grills in order to prepare delicious meals — served hot and on time — to the glory of God. Shift Managers work hard to make it happen.

Leader. Serving in the kitchen provides all kinds of opportunities for leadership skills to be honed. Throughout a summer at camp, Shift Managers are led intentionally, trained to lead, and given opportunities to lead other cooks and staffers in the content of a commercial kitchen.

Teammate. Succeeding in the kitchen requires a team. No meal can be prepared alone. Shift Managers seek to engage, encourage, and serve to create an incredible environment for everyone in the kitchen.

Our great hope is that everyone who serves in this position might continue to grow and authentic relationship with God and be committed to living a transformed life wherever they go. In addition to growth that will happen when working alongside others, Shift Managers participate in:
- Bible Study. Every week, we take a look at the scripts and learn to study God’s word on our own.
- Intentional Conversation. One night a week, we have an intentional group conversation approaching issues from a Biblical worldview.

- 1-on-1s. Shift Managers meet weekly 1-on-1 with a leader for coaching, encouragement, and challenge.
- Activities. Regular activities are scheduled to create valuable interactions outside of the kitchen.
