EMERGENCY SERVICES DISPATCHER 1

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

You will be providing support for field enforcement units of the Department of Public Safety at the Alaska State Troopers North Operations Center. You will be answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls and dispatching units to calls for service via the radio.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:
The Emergency Services Dispatcher 1 position is based in Fairbanks and located at 1979 Peger Road in a secure facility. The work environment is fast-paced – we answer more than 135,000 calls per year. Each day is dynamic with the opportunity to interact with people from many different backgrounds and provide life-saving assistance in many challenging situations. You will be part of a team of dispatchers who truly are the heart of the telecommunications services provided by the Department of Public Safety.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of work experience. Six months must be experience that entails clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
  • The ability to type 30 WPM.
  • Post-secondary education or vocational education can substitute for up to 18 months of work experience.
