Facilities Superintendent
The Facilities Superintendent is a skilled building operations and maintenance service class that serves as facility manager coordinating and managing facilities maintenance and repair programs and projects. Under the direction of the Sheriff's Support Services Manager, incumbents identify and diagnose overall building operation dysfunctions and develop remedial and proactive strategies while evaluating the impact of alternatives and implementing programmatic solutions.

Required education and experience
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, at least three (3) years of which must have involved managing a large multi-disciplinary work force responsible for the operation and maintenance of complex multi-use facilities.; AND
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in engineering, architecture, business management or public administration.
Note: Additional years of experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong working knowledge of building systems and maintenance operations development
- Excellent communication skills – verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of annual budgetary controls for routine maintenance
- Familiar with the operations of, and physical requirements for, public safety facilities
- Professional demeanor with other agencies and collaborative partners
Working Conditions
- Subject to weekend work, standby, or emergency call back for detention facilities which operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
- Work may take place within locked detention facilities
- Exposure to weather, dust, fumes, electrical, currents and machine noises
- May be exposed to hazards of building maintenance (i.e., lead, asbestos, etc.)
Evaluation
