Job Summary
The Market Risk Analyst (Enterprise Risk Focus) plays a vital role in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating a wide spectrum of risks across the organization. This includes traditional market risks, but also extends to crucial areas such as capital project assessment, insurance risks, cybersecurity, business continuity, climate risk, and risks associated with joint ventures and venture capital investments. This role demands a holistic approach to risk management, strong attention to details, strategic mindset, collaborating with various departments to ensure robust risk mitigation strategies are integrated into all organizational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Risk Management: Integrate market risk considerations into the overall enterprise risk management framework. Contribute to risk appetite statements, key risk indicators (KRIs), and risk reporting dashboards. Participate in enterprise-wide risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
- Capital Project Evaluation: Evaluate market and other related risks (e.g, material and labor costs, project delay, etc.) for proposed capital projects. Help identify key risks and provide risk-adjusted valuations for capital investment decisions.
- Insurance Analysis: Analyze and report total cost of insurance, evaluate and assess adequacy and efficiency among alternative options, and recommend adjustments based on a comprehensive risk assessment. Provide analytical support to optimize insurance programs.
- Strategic and Long-Term Risk: Analyze long-term macroeconomic, geopolitical and market trends and assess their potential impact. Develop scenarios and stress tests to evaluate organizational resilience to long-term risks, including climate change and evolving cybersecurity threats. Contribute to long-term risk management strategies.
- Risk Project Management: Manage risk-related projects, ensuring timely completion and effective implementation of risk systems, tools and mitigation strategies across various risk categories. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration on risk-related initiatives.
- Market Risk Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and geopolitical events to identify potential market risks. Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis, including stress testing and scenario analysis. Develop and maintain risk models to quantify exposures.
- Cybersecurity Risk Management: Contribute to cybersecurity risks management, monitoring and mitigation related to data security and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
- Business Continuity Management: Develop and maintain business continuity plans for corporate department and industrial plants to ensure operational resilience in the face of disruptions, including market crashes, cyberattacks, and natural disasters. Assisting organization conduct regular business continuity tests and exercises.
- Climate Risk Management: Assess the organization's exposure to climate-related risks, such as extreme weather events, regulatory changes, and reputational damage. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate climate risks and enhance organizational sustainability. Provide reporting and disclosure support for climate related risks.
- Joint Venture and Venture Capital Risk Management: Analyze and manage risks associated with joint ventures and potential/current venture capital investments, considering market dynamics, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and reputational risks. Develop risk mitigation strategies and monitor investment performance.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare regular and ad-hoc risk reports for senior management and stakeholders. Communicate risk findings and recommendations effectively. Contribute to risk awareness training programs.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA, CPA, etc.) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in market risk analysis, preferably within an ag/food company, financial institution or a risk management consulting firm.
- Prior experience and working knowledge of Tableau report building, maintenance and Python coding.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, commodities market, risk management principles, regulatory requirements, and emerging risk areas (cybersecurity, climate risk).
- Proficiency in statistical modeling, data analysis, and risk management software.
- Strong attention to details and take ownership for producing consistent high quality work products.
- Highly efficient project management skills, strategic mindset, and natural multi-tasker.
