POSITION SUMMARY:


The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for handling the day-to-day inquires between internal and external customers/ vendors regarding accounts payable.  This position works closely with the Accounts Payable Supervisor to resolve any issues that surface within the Accounts Payable area including the preparation of monthly financial statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable invoices and purchasing card statements.
  • Verify invoice accuracy and completeness, and research discrepancies.
  • Actively monitors A/P inbox daily which includes printing vendor invoices, responding to vendor inquiries.
  • Perform the monthly vendor statement reconciliations.
  • Prepares bill batches for assigned Visa and AMEX statements.
  • Handles weekly bank draft schedule to ensure all bills are entered for expenses on auto-draft.
  • Prepare the bi-weekly check run files for A/P Supervisor’s review.
  • Set up new vendors within the system as requested.
  • Assists with monthly closings.
  • Assists in various accounting projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience

Work Experience Required:   

  • 3 - 5 years of Accounts Payable experience

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES:

  • Accounting knowledge, especially as it related to accounts payable
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Technologically savvy with knowledge of Accounting Software; knowledge of EFI PACE is a plus
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Resourceful with excellent time management and prioritizing skills
  • Strong organization skills, analytical thinking ability and attention to details
  • Very strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financials
  • Capable of very high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to meet company's high-quality control standards 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Working at computer and sitting for long periods of time.
