Property Management Intern

The Property Management Intern can be initially a part time role, while juggling academic commitments and, then, ideally during the summer months (May-August) working full time hours. This is a great role for a current college students looking to develop a career in real estate. The primary responsibility is building relationships with current and prospective residents towards the goal of leasing apartments and retaining current residents. The Property Management Intern works closely with the Property Manager and other members of the team to ensure all sales goals are met or exceeded. The Property Management Intern is a natural when it comes to a sales mentality, and a people-person who has a knack for social media and other marketing platforms. 

Interns will be exposed to the general operations of successful residential communities in the South Loop and Hyde Park neighborhoods. Our properties are located within favorable distance to transportation centers, restaurants and night life, and other community hot spots, like the Medical Campus and local college communities.

This position is an hourly, non-exempt position, with eligibility to earn commissions and overtime based on Federal and State labor statutes. The preferred work hours will be 10 AM- 6 PM, with flexibility to accommodate showings outside of routine schedule as needed. Must have availability for at least one weekend shift.

The position offers the potential for career development, with an opportunity to extend and become a crucial member of the 3L team.

Your Mission:

  • Support the Property Manager to ensure occupancy and leasing goals are met for the community
     
  • Leasing:
  • Drive day-to-day leasing goals onsite, interacting with prospective residents via phone, e-mail, and in person, conducting tours, and diligently pursuing the close of each sale, performing follow ups, and completing leasing paperwork with prospective residents
  • Under and be able to explain the lease in its entirety including restrictions and addendums
  • Understand and abide by leasing policies and company standards, and Fair Housing laws
  • Maintain confidentiality in all job responsibilities as it pertains to staff and tenants
  • Know amenities and features of each property and how to favorably compare them to the competition
  • Create and Distribute marketing materials throughout the community
  • Report to Leasing Manager each day regarding leasing traffic, prospect objections, and effectiveness of marketing and sales strategies

 

  • Resident Relations and Property Ambassador:
  • Provide outstanding customer service for all residents
  • Input service requests in accordance with company standards
  • Communicate policies and procedures to residents
  • Prepare necessary documents/packets for move-in
  • Assist Leasing Team with marketing campaigns and goals as needed
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with every potential resident and guest in order to spread positive word of mouth
  • Positively represent the property both on and off the clock
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization in the show unit(s), tour route and leasing office
  • Assist Property leadership with various projects as requested

Your Track Record:

  • Sales experience strongly preferred; strong aptitude and interest in a wide range of marketing platforms
  • Social media and digital marketing experience preferred
  • Experience in the student or residential housing industry a plus, as is a demonstrated interest (experience or academics) in real estate.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products

Individuals must have the ability to easily transverse property while showing rental spaces to prospective tenants.
