Monday through Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (includes two 15-minute paid rest breaks; one 30-minute unpaid lunch break)

SALARY RANGE: $20.45 to $27.12 Per Hour
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Alexandria Technical and Community College is dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for our students and staff. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Academic and Student Affairs Support Specialist.
The Academic and Student Affairs Support Specialist position is responsible for three separate areas of responsibility to include:
1) provide data services and support for the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness by using queries across multiple databases;
2) serve as an administrator of the EMS Campus Event Management System and schedule facility usage by outside entities; and
3) provide office and project support to the Deans of Educational Services which may include scheduling meetings and appointments, word processing documents, creating spreadsheets, preparing PowerPoint presentations, and assist with event planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (expected to have to enter job):
- Knowledge of and ability to use word processing software such as: Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power BI, Access, and Outlook, to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents.
- Skill in database management sufficient to develop tables and manipulate, retrieve, and analyze data.
- Communication skills sufficient to answer telephones, communicate effectively with internal and external customers, prepare responses to routine inquiries, and follow detailed instructions and skill in using business grammar, spelling and punctuation to prepare reports, write emails and other documents.
- Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer’s needs, meet quality standards for services, that result in customer satisfaction. Ability to answer questions politely via phone, email, and other written or electronic correspondence and promptly respond to customer inquiries and manage customer complaints tactfully and thoroughly.
- Skills in math sufficient to calculate totals, averages, and percentages of numbers and/or data.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced skills in using Excel, Power BI, and Access to create reports, sort, format, filter data and export information between Microsoft products.
- Ability to quickly learn new software, such as ISRS, Salesforce, Workday, Event Management Scheduling (EMS), or other selected software as position responsibilities expand.
- Diploma and/or AAS degree in an Administrative Support program area (or related two-year degree).
- Strong organizational and planning skills to manage projects, identify priorities, and meet timelines with little supervision.
- Data privacy knowledge and skills to adequately handle confidential and personal data.
