Job Purpose
The Data and Reporting Analyst within the Office of Institutional Research (IR) develops and designs reporting and analytics for a wide variety of internal and external constituents, including but not limited to time-sensitive external surveys, the annual Common Data Set and the IR web site. The Analyst fosters a culture of data cleanliness and integrity by collaborating with the College’s data stewards to ensure high quality data sources for accurate data-driven decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics/statistics, engineering, management information science, data processing or related field. Experience with Cognos/Insights, Tableau, SQL, and SAS are required. Experience working in a higher education environment is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
Experience with Cognos, Insights, Tableau, SQL, and SAS. Proficiency with MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge and understanding of the data and information that is important to an academic institution. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and to communicate effectively. Must be able to work well under strict deadlines and have exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment .Must understand the significance of maintaining data integrity and confidentially with student records; knowledge of and adherence to FERPA regulations required.
Preferred:
Understanding of methods and techniques for data extraction, analysis and reporting. Exceptional organizational skills and experience managing and documenting complex projects. Knowledge of higher education information systems such as Ellucian Banner and related data systems and repositories such as Salesforce, IPEDS, US News, and CSRDE.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
Limited overnight travel may be required to attend professional development conferences and meetings. Some weekend and evening activities may be required.
*Depending upon experience level, this position can accommodate preferences for remote, hybrid remote, or on-campus work schedules.

Manages a robust system of data integrity processes by ensuring that daily edit reports have been successfully generated and delivered to the responsible data stewards. Triages existing data problems and communicates with the IR Data Architect when new reports or revisions are needed. Collaborates with data stewards to ensure that data errors are resolved within the required deadlines.

Responsible for communication with various campus colleagues to collect, enter and submit quantitative and qualitative data for approximately 20 external surveys that represent the College to the general public such as US News and World Report, Peterson’s Guide, Princeton Review and the Common Data Set. Develops and maintains systems for the efficient and accurate collection of survey data that meet best practices for tracking collaborative work. Administers complex annual and bi-annual surveys and studies such as the Delaware Cost Study, CSRDE and the Great Colleges to Work For.

Prepares data and visualizations for public consumption of information from the IR web site and Tableau dashboards, including the annual Planning and Reference Fact Book, Quick Facts, and Peer comparison data. Establishes and adheres to a web site project schedule for routine and annual updates to prevent stale content. Regularly evaluates web site content for relevance and monitors web site and dashboard traffic and usage. Recommends innovations that create informative information displays and efficiencies and consistencies across commonly-used data sources.
