Legal Assistant 

Job Description

 

General Summary:

 

Under the supervision of the shareholder, department attorneys, and administrator, the legal assistant is responsible for assisting attorneys as needed, including, but not limited to:

  • Prepare, revise, format, convert, and produce legal documents as requested.
  • Proofreading documents for spelling, correct grammar, and overall accuracy.
  • Prepare documents for closings, attending closings when necessary.
  • Record documents as needed.
  • Establish and maintain client files.
  • Provide support to assigned attorneys, which may include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing the calendar.
  • Record attorney time in the billing system.
  • Ensure a high level of service when interacting with clients, opposing counsel, and other internal and external contacts. Maintain discretion and sound judgment when interacting with others.
  • Assist others when needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in professional business.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle responsibility.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
