Director of Student Support Services
Position Purpose
A Director of Student Support Services is responsible for the planning, organization, and management of student support services. They lead and support staff and students in areas such as English Language Learning, 504 Coordination, District Wide Threat Assessment, Virtual Academies and other Federal Programs such as McKinney Vento, Foster Care Liaison, and Homeschool Liaison. They also ensure that students are placed in the appropriate programs and that all laws and regulations are followed.
Essential Functions
- Program development: Developing and implementing special programs such as special education, English Learners (EL), and dropout prevention
- Program evaluation: Evaluating the effectiveness of programs and instructional practices for special programming
- Staff management: Assigning personnel and providing support to administrative and professional staff
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all laws, codes, and regulations
- Community engagement: Establishing family engagement practices and community involvement
- Student support: Providing support for students in traditional and alternative learning programs
- Student concerns: Responding to inquiries, concerns, and complaints
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copier and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
- State Certification as required for position.
- Administration endorsements and credential
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
- Bachelor's and Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration.
Experience
- At least two years of experience in a comparable role
Salary: $114,000 - $127,000 DOE
