Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our Business Office team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing the school’s financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the School. This role requires strong analytical skills, a high level of integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. This position reports directly to the Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities
- Account Reconciliation: Oversee reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, corporate credit card account, PSPA account and other balance sheet accounts.
- Accounts Receivable & Payable: Work closely with and provide backup support for the Accounts Receivable and Payable role.
- Gifts/Pledges: Deposit and record all gifts and pledges in general ledger on a daily or weekly basis. Reconcile the pledge receivable account monthly.
- Auxiliary Programs: On a daily/weekly basis, record all revenue received under revenue recognition standards and provide monthly reports of revenue and expenses for the Auxiliary program department.
- Bookstore: Record all credit card sales and journalized quarterly department charges.

Corporate Credit Card Program: Review credit card charges and ensure employees are complying with policy:
- Record and reconcile corporate card activities weekly.
- Oversee yearly INDEX/DASL reporting and provide support as needed.
- Serve as a primary backup for all Business Office functions (for example, but not limited to processing student billing, disbursements, or payroll).
- Assist the Assistant Controller with analyses and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
- Knowledge of GAAP for not-for-profit organizations.
- Excellent Excel skills ( pivot tables, sumifs, vlookup, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Experience with Financial Edge NXT and Veracross is beneficial.
- Skilled in Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and pillars of the Pingry School, including a commitment to DEIB and the requisite skills to work cross-functionally with diverse constituency groups across the organization.
