Walking Tour Guide

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Walking Tour Guide in the summer months to join our Local Missoula Tours team. This is a paid position that can be used as an internship if needed for your major.

As a Walking Tour Guide, you will be responsible for leading groups of tourists and locals through various points of interest, providing them with historical, cultural, and practical (and fun!) information about the area. Your role will involve memorizing a script, creating an engaging and educational experience for participants, ensuring their safety, and answering any questions they may have. You will need to be well-versed in the history and culture of the area (or willing to learn!), possess excellent communication skills, and be able to adapt your tours to meet the needs and interests of different groups. The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and the ability to manage groups of varying sizes. You will also be responsible for maintaining your tour schedule, coordinating with other tour guides and the owner when needed, and handling any logistical issues that may arise. This role requires physical stamina, as you will be walking for extended periods, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. If you have a love for history, culture, and sharing knowledge and fun with others, we would love to hear from you.

  • Four tour guides will be hired for the 2024 season.
  • Hours: 9-30 hours a week (to be determined by the owner and you when hired), most tours Monday-Friday ending by 5pm, with additional weekend tours provided on a custom basis.
  • Pay: $25/hour with mid-season and post-season bonuses on completion of responsibilities.
