Job Description  

Ipsen is a leading global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to improving lives through innovative medicines in Oncology, Rare Disease, and Neuroscience. We are seeking undergraduate candidates for our summer internship program at Ipsen in our office in Cambridge, MA.  

The summer internship program is structured as a 3-month experience, whereby the Associate is placed in the Research & External Innovation organization within the company. The associate will work with a team of scientists and informatics scientists on creating workflows and transferring experimental data into our internal databases in defined formats. The associate will also work with a team of chemists on uploading structures of virtual compounds into an internal database.  

This program is an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain broad and meaningful work experiences that will prepare them for a successful career in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry. Successful candidates will have a passion for improving lives through innovative medicines and an educational background in chemistry.   

Responsibilities  

  • Work with informatics scientists to define a workflow for transferring results from Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) experiments into a CDD Vault database. 
  • Collect and format the existing SPR data generated in the past and transfer them into CDD Vault.  
  • Transfer biological, biochemical, biophysical, and DMPK (drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics) experimental data (with defined formats) into CDD Vault. 
  • Work with chemistry team to define a workflow for uploading chemical structures into StarDrop’s Idea Tracker system. 
  • Collect and upload existing files of virtual structures into StarDrop’s Idea Tracker system. 
  • Routinely communicate with the team on the progress of the work. 
  • Ensure the accuracy of the transfer of the experimental data and structures into the corresponding databases. 

Qualifications:  

  • Rising senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.  
  • Organic chemistry knowledge is required 
  • Basic knowledge of computer science is preferred 
  • Fluency in English is required.  
  • Ideal candidates can communicate effectively, learn quickly, takes ownership of their work to deliver results, and is a true collaborator  

We will not consider graduate students or undergraduate students graduating before December 2025. We are also not providing housing support so students will need to provide their own housing over the course of the 11-week program.
