Events Management

George Mason University Facilities and Campus Operations (FCO) mission, through its units, including Land Development, Planning, Design & Construction, Business Services, Facilities Management, Regional Campuses, and University Sustainability, ensures a quality physical environment supporting the mission of the University.  

The Assistant Vice President, Business Services would like to hire a self-motivated Event Management student intern for Summer 2025.  The AVP oversees the IT services, Communications and Marketing, Human Resources, Procurement and Fiscal Services, as well as the Budget and Finance units. 

The intern will gain meaningful and applicable real work experiences through targeted projects

Project Description

This position will be tasked with the planning and coordination of the end of summer Facilities & Campus Operations (F&CO) Team Member social event.

The Intern will:

  • organize, plan, and execute all aspects of the Summer social event for F&CO employees, around 400 people
  • coordinate all event logistics including (but not limited to) set up, entertainment, food, beverages, A/V, seating
  • work with F&CO Communications & Marketing team on event promotion
  • work with the Culture Champion Committee (C3) on event programming,

MAIN REQUIRMENTS

  • Degree seeking, rising sophomores through rising seniors
  • Intern will need to complete an end of program presentation
  • Intern will participate in program activities like lectures and outings
  • Prior experience volunteering or interning with the Event Management
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook
