Senior Director, Alumni Relations and Major Gifts

Summary:
Responsible for designing and leading comprehensive alumni engagement strategies and managing a robust portfolio of alumni major gifts prospects. Oversee programs to build meaningful connections with alumni while driving major gifts fundraising efforts to support the institution’s strategic goals. Work collaboratively with senior leadership, advancement staff, and volunteers to achieve revenue targets and alumni engagement.

Principal Functional Responsibilities:
Alumni Relations: Develop and implement innovative alumni engagement strategies to strengthen alumni ties to the institution. Oversee alumni events, programs, and communications, ensuring they reflect the mission and goals of the institution. Build and maintain relationships with alumni volunteers, advisory boards, and networks to enhance outreach and participation. Utilize data analytics and alumni feedback to evaluate and refine engagement strategies. 
Major Gifts: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major gift prospects capable of making gifts at $25,000+ levels. Develop individualized strategies for donor engagement and solicitation in collaboration with key stakeholders, colleagues, academic leaders and program staff to align donor interests with institutional priorities. Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and reports to secure major gifts and demonstrate impact. 
Leadership and Collaboration: Supervise and mentor a team of alumni relations professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Partner with the marketing and communications team to develop materials that effectively engage alumni and donors. Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively. 
Miscellaneous Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in alumni relations, fundraising, or a related field, with a proven track record in fostering relationships with alumni and donors.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and G-suite equivalents, Zoom, and database management
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree
• Demonstrated success in cultivating and securing six figure gifts and more
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge software

Physical Requirements:
Requires travel to see out of town alumni and prospects, as well as occasional night and weekend events or assignments. Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
