As a Commercial Lines Assistant Underwriter, you will manage the end-to-end processing of insurance submissions, policies, and endorsements. The ideal candidate is a highly organized multitasker with strong communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Submission Processing
- Review, enter, and track submission data in the Agent Portal and Excel tracking sheets.
- Clear new submissions and set up files.
- Assign submissions to underwriters, manage effective dates, and coordinate backup during underwriter absences.
- Ensure submission data accuracy and compliance with requirements.
Policy Management
- Track the full lifecycle of policies from binding to issuance.
- Review and follow up on missing or received subjectivities via the Document Management System.
- Collaborate with underwriters to gather needed information for policies.
- Generate policies, identifying correct forms and endorsements.
- Perform final reviews, ensuring policies are ready for issuance to brokers and carriers.
- Maintain detailed records and update tracking systems.
Endorsement Processing
- Process endorsement requests based on UW direction.
- Enter data, ensure necessary documentation, and generate endorsements.
- Coordinate reviews with UWs and finalize endorsements after feedback.
- Invoice endorsements and update tracking systems.
- Distribute endorsements to brokers and carriers.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of underwriting or support experience
- BA/BS or equivalent business experience
Skills
- Proficient in Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Exceptional multitasking, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
- Time management skills with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Strong work ethic with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and update records systematically.
- Analytical skills to identify discrepancies and solve problems.
- Proactive follow-up on workflow and action items.
- Adaptability to established workflows and procedures.
- Initiative to take ownership of tasks and processes.
- Excellent communication skills for working with underwriters and brokers.
