Junior Photographer/Videographer - Creative Services

Job Summary:  

 As a Junior Photographer/Videographer and Content Developer, you will produce content including fresh and delightful photography to achieve our various brand styles. You will work with the Creative Services team members, Hospitality Managing members, Chefs, Director and Assistant Director’s of Hospitality and the Chief Creative Officer to support the photography, videography and content development needs of all Genesis Hospitality Member companies. You will play an integral role in supporting our growth by creating high-quality assets for our websites, social media profiles, collateral and other marketing channels.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Contribute and develop original ideas while working on new projects.
  2. Develop and create compelling, engaging concepts for promotions and content that support business objectives and adhere to established brand voice.
  3. Use professional expertise and skill to capture professional, high-quality images; assignments may include products, menu items, table scapes, headshots, events, candid images, spaces, architectural structures, etc., for use in print collateral, digital marketing, advertising and websites.
  4. Take photographs in accordance with established brand and visual guidelines.
  5. Collaborate cross-functionally to coordinate shoots and meet designated timelines and deadlines.
  6. Create and maintain shoot lists.
  7. Setup camera, lighting equipment, position people, products, props, and food styling for each in-house and offsite shoots.
  8. Ensure studio lighting and equipment is used to create consistent imagery.
  9. Enhance the appearance of subjects with natural or artificial light as needed.
  10. Process, manage, review, optimize, edit, crop, organize and tag image assets as needed for quality & consistency.
  11. Ensure that all images are correctly exposed and color consistent.
  12. Organize and maintain the image archive to enable Creative Staff to find any image material needed in an easy way.
  13. Work with Creative Team to come up with concepts and styling for photo and video shoots based around marketing campaigns.
  14. Create and edit clips from video library for digital marketing and web teams.
  15. Research and test new trends and photo styles.
  16. Select and use appropriate photographic and/or video equipment.
  17. Ensures equipment is in proper working order and supplies are stocked.
  18. Safely handle property in-house and offsite.
  19. Serve as primary point-of-contact on projects for the assigned line(s) of business.
  20. Initiate and guide projects throughout the project lifecycle by obtaining information, determining scope, requesting components, communicating expectations and action items.
  21. Monitor the progress of each component for a project and provide updates/proofs, facilitate communication, the flow of information, and the creative process between Managing Directors and Creative Services team members.
  22. Create content for ads, collateral, email campaigns, tradeshow/event displays, websites, social media posts, blog posts, etc., including writing clear, compelling copy and initiating photography and videography requests.
  23. Routinely audit all websites, social media profiles, other outside internet profiles, and Marketing collateral for accuracy and facilitate any necessary updates.
  24. Ensure digital and graphics staff have what they need for project fulfillment—if they do not, identify and explore the appropriate path to obtain the information/item and remove roadblocks.
  25. Perform other duties as may be assigned by Coordinators, Managers or the Chief Marketing Officer.

Job Qualifications

 

  • 1+ years professional photography experience in either an agency or in-house environment with experience in food photography, content creation, or related field. Experience in the hospitality, culinary or food styling industry is a plus. Retail/Product-based photography experience is a plus.
  • Diploma in photography or similar qualification.
  • Candidates must have a strong portfolio that exhibits a range of style and technique, both in-studio and on-location, with examples such as food photography, still life, product photography, and lifestyle photography. 
  • Proficient in MAC and knowledgeable about PC platforms.
  • High technical proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Knowledgeable about Microsoft Office (Word, Explorer, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience with professional digital cameras and detailed knowledge of modern photography techniques.
  • Experience in studio lighting techniques, principles, and composition (lighting, exposure, depth of field) and product photography.
  • Experience with basic propping and food styling.
  • Experience with image tagging, editing, and optimization.
  • Must provide a diverse portfolio of previous photography that reflects the ability to adapt to a specific brand personality, as well as a body of product photography demonstrating a keen eye for composition and lighting.
  • In-house and offsite locations required.
  • Ability to work after hours when needed.
  • Be able to lift up to 30 lbs, walk up and down stairs throughout the workday, including pushing, pulling and lifting items using proper lifting/moving techniques.
