Summary
Footprints Center for Autism is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, collaborative, and child-centered programming to individuals with autism. We are seeking an Intervention Specialist who wants to join a close-knit, supportive team who are enthusiastic about working with children with special needs.
Some of the advantages of working at Footprints is a low teacher to student ratio which allows for more one on one time with each student. Also, we are outside of the Public School system and have developed excellent relationships with the parents of our students who are involved and committed to insuring the best education for their children.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Provide the educational programming for students as defined in the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) and the FCA-generated Individualized Program Plan.
- Create lesson plans in alignment with IEP goals and Ohio learning standards and extended standards.
- Track daily attendance for students on their caseload.
- Work cooperatively with other intervention specialists and therapists, interpreting the abilities and disabilities of the students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, and modifying curriculum, as necessary.
- Regularly collect data on all IEP goals and other FCA-generated goals.
- Regularly collect graded work for student report cards and portfolios.
- Communicate regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, and personal needs of each student on their caseload.
- Collaborate with clinical staff on the generation of quarterly progress reports and report cards. Progress reports and report cards are driven by data collection and teacher observations.
- Participate in the development of goals and objectives for the Individualized Education Plan for each student on their caseload, in the capacity appropriate for the relationship with their home district.
- Complete necessary reports and record keeping as required by state and local policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional growth activities through staff development, in-service, workshops, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by the team of Directors or by their supervisor.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience providing special education services to children with special needs (experience with children with autism preferred)
License/Certification: Current teaching license for the state of Ohio
