Branded Account Representative

Position Overview:

Motiva is currently seeking a Branded Account Representative to join our Branded Sales team. The Branded Account Representative position is a developmental role that works indirectly with our customers while working with the different groups within Motiva Fuels Sales, and Marketing (“FSM”) to support the Sales Manager’s entire territory. This role will benefit knowledge and an understanding of Motiva’s business, processes, financial impact, customer value proposition, marketing programs, pricing, supply, product quality, complaints, billing, technology, and more. The experiences gained in this role will give the Branded Account Representative an understanding of the business as a whole and how Motiva fits into our customer’s needs. There will be a short training/onboarding timeframe to get the incumbent up to speed with the business they will be supporting. This is a two-year role with emphasis on developing the Branded Account Representative for future roles within Motiva. 

Responsibilities:

  • The Branded Account Representative is responsible for working with the Sales Territory Managers to handle all program and back-office activities for the Sales Manager’s entire territory of ~1,800 sites.  This role requires working with a high level of independence, self-motivation, and excellent time management skills due to the size and scope of the role and the importance to the Sales Manager’s success.
  • The role has a focus on relationship management with the expectation that the Branded Account Representative build positive working relationship with the Sales Manager and Sales Territory Manager and can adopt different professional styles and work well with various staff within a fuel distributor’s organization.   Develop and maintain good working relationships and contacts at the appropriate levels with the Motiva FSM department staff to assist in critical areas of supply, credit, finance, etc. to resolve complex issues across functions and to assure the business runs smoothly.
  • Management of Mystery Motorist Program (“MMP”) is critical to the overall volume and financial success of the Sales Manager’s territory.  With over 5,000 shops completed each year it is important to manage this program efficiently and drive improvements which drive volume. 
  • Management of the Product Quality Assurance (“PQA”) program and handling difficult conversations to ensure the integrity of the Shell brand is maintained is essential. Effective management of this program can lead to over $1 mln dollars per year. 
  • Program Development: Work to institute and deliver various programs that increase the value to our customers and Motiva.
  • Contract Compliance: Management of monthly Contract Compliance and over $30 min of Incentives that are typically paid per year.
  • Additional management of all miscellaneous issues (supply, terminal, billing, complaints, technology, etc.) that impact the Sales Manager’s territory.
  • With a thorough understanding of the downstream supply chain and complexities of the motor fuel business act as liaison between customer requests and various groups in the Motiva FSM business, such as fuel supply and economics, legal, credit, business operations and marketing.
  • Practical Organizational Leadership experience.
  • May include some/limited travel for face-to-face meetings with FSM customers including tradeshows and conferences.

Experience and Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing/Sales/Advertising or related field required.
  • Entry level position.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Be able / willing to relocate within Motiva geography for potentially future roles.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • MBA preferred.
