Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Social Services Correctional Specialist Internship

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is a Drug-Free Workplace. All employees, volunteers, interns, vendors, and guests of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office are prohibited from the use, sale, dispensing, distribution, possession, manufacture, or being under the influence of drugs that are illegal under any federal, state, or local law, including marijuana (medically authorized marijuana), prescription drugs without a valid prescription, inhalants, or narcotic substances on the Franklin County Sheriff's Office's premises, at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office events or while conducting Franklin County Sheriff's Office business, whether on or off the Franklin County Sheriff's Office premises. In addition, employees are prohibited from the possession, use, or sale of illegal drugs because such activities adversely affect job performance, job safety, or the Franklin County Sheriff's Office's reputation in the community. 

We are looking for qualified candidates to assist social services staff in supporting programming at both Franklin County Correctional Centers by performing routine functions and helping with the day-to-day job duties of a Social Services Correctional Specialist. 

The ideal candidate will be able to solve problems involving various variables in a somewhat unfamiliar context, collect data for annual reports, complete communication forms from the incarcerated population, monitor the program list, handle confidential/sensitive telephone and face-to-face inquiries/information, and organize and categorize the facility library. 

The candidate will interact with the incarcerated population on a normal basis. Knowledge of motivational interviewing, de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and gender responsiveness is preferred.
