Community Engagement Coordinator

Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator 

Location: Downtown Framingham, MA 

Hours: 40 hours per week (Flexible schedule, with occasional evening or weekend events) Reports to: Board of Directors, Downtown Framingham Inc.

Downtown Framingham Inc. (DFI) is dedicated to enhancing the vitality and vibrancy of the downtown Framingham area. We work to foster community development, support local businesses, and create engaging experiences for residents and visitors alike. 

Position Overview: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as Community Engagement Coordinator. This role will direct various initiatives and programs aimed at enriching downtown Framingham's cultural, social, and economic landscape. This position will primarily focus on outreach, event coordination, and administrative support. 

Key Responsibilities: 

 Community Outreach & Engagement: 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local business owners, community leaders, and residents to foster a positive connection with the downtown area.
  • Promote Downtown Framingham’s initiatives, events, and programs to local residents, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Organize and attend meetings with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Liaison with key City of Framingham departments to help align economic development efforts and initiatives

Administrative Support: 

  • Maintain Downtown Framingham’s website, social media accounts, and other communication channels to promote activities and engage the public.
  • Prepare reports, newsletters, and promotional materials to communicate key messages and upcoming events.
  • Prepare applications for essential grant opportunities aligned with DFI mission.

Event Coordination & Support: 

  • Plan, promote, and execute community events that encourage foot traffic to downtown.
  • Manage event logistics, including vendor coordination, volunteer management, and on-site support during events.
  • Track event outcomes and community feedback to assess success and improve future events.

Market Research & Data Collection: 

  • Conduct surveys, gather feedback, and analyze community needs and preferences to inform future projects and programming
  • Track local business trends and community interests to recommend opportunities for growth and engagement.

Fundraising: 

  • With the assistance of the board, help fundraise to in support of events and other DFI priorities

Qualifications: 

  • Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in event planning, community outreach, or public relations is preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), Microsoft Office Suite, and basic website management.
  • Familiar with or willing to learn Quickbooks software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Passion for community development, local businesses, and enhancing the quality of life in Framingham.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in a non-profit is a plus.
  • Familiarity interfacing with municipal government and/or the willingness to learn this aspect of the job

Compensation: 

$25/ hour, based on experience, with opportunity for advancement based on performance

Start Date: Immediate, or as soon as practical
