Job Title: Manager, Membership & Business Services

Organization: West Central Association - Chamber of Commerce (WCACC)

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Position Type: Full-time

 

The West Central Association - Chamber of Commerce (WCACC) is looking for an individual to join our team as a full-time Membership & Business Services Manager. In this role, you will  lead efforts to drive new memberships and support our growing membership base and build a stronger sense of community.  We are looking for a self-motivated, extremely collaborative and organized person with a desire to help businesses grow.  The position reports to the Executive Director and supports the various committees that support our mission. The salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $60,000, based on experience, with an anticipated workload of 40 hours per week. 

Note: requires flexible hours based on evening and weekend events


 

Responsibilities:

  • Be on the front line of membership communication, including taking calls, responding to emails, and regular follow-up with members
  • Drive new WCA memberships and renewals of existing memberships  
  • Lead member event planning and implementation, and monitoring of and event timelines to ensure budgetary and scheduling constraints are met 
  • Oversee event registration, ensuring the greeting of all members to events on behalf of the WCA.  Manage WCA’s post-event follow-up, organizing and executing surveys as needed 
  • Partner with Event & Marketing Manager to post member content to WCA website and social media assets. 
  • Update and maintain the WCA contacts on various databases (i.e. Hubspot, Constant Contact and others) 
  • Fulfills the responsibilities as the sole service provider for Greektown Special Service Area #16 
  • Lead regular communication with WCA members on all relevant topics, including member benefits, events, opportunities, etc, and that all member requests and communications are responded to in a timely fashion 
  • In conjunction with the Membership committee, create new member onboarding, including ambassador program, ribbon cuttings and new member meet + greets.
  • Develop membership programming, including training, content and materials to contribute to business growth and encourage renewals.
  • Ensure that the WCA membership list is kept current and up to date, with membership due dates and overdue notices communicated to each member as needed. 
  • Manage the WCA Membership and Hospitality Committees
  • Manage membership invoicing, monthly financial documents and accounts payable and receivable needs with the help of the WCA bookkeeper 
  • Assist with the preparation of documents for tax filing and other vendor requirements 


 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and 3-5 years of work experience (non-profit or chamber experience is an asset).
  • Experience working in a membership-based association, chamber of commerce or civic environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, MS Office applications, social media platforms and online software applications (Hubspot, Squarespace/Wordpress, Canva, Constant Contact). 
  • Can and implement in an organized manner with a high attention to detail. Ability to create and manage multiple detailed timelines. Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work in group settings.
  • Charismatic and comfortable interacting with new members and forging connections between members.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage projects with many moving parts 
  • Good with follow-up and has a customer-focused approach.
  • Team player with the ability to learn and collaborate in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent writer and communicator (in both the written and verbal form) 
  • Ability to think outside the box and ability to articulate ideas and suggestions
  • Familiarity with or resides in the West Central area; residency in the City of Chicago is required. 
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

 

Salary:

  • $55,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
