Technical Writer and Trainer

Description

This position develops designs, coordinates, and delivers procedures and training for new and existing technical applications across the organization.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Works across the organization to research, outline write, and edit content to understand project requirements
  • Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedures, technical specifications, and process documentation
  • Determine technical training and procedural needs on current and future projects
  • Attends Operations, IT Department and Learning and Development Department meetings to stay informed of technical changes and enhancements as needed
  • Develops and delivers procedures and training for current and future systems as appropriate, or delegates delivery to the ideal candidate depending on subject matter, timeline, etc.
  • Develops and follows universal design and structure standards for procedure and training materials (user guides, procedures, handouts, etc.) to ensure a consistent aesthetic
  • Serves as a resource for managers and associates regarding questions, concerns, and enhancements to technical systems
  • Serves as a resource for managers and associates regarding development of learning materials such as procedures, guides, activities, etc. to aid in associate development – within a project or in day-to-day business processes
  • Helps ensure consistency of best practices regarding usage of all technical systems
  • Assists in maintaining training databases and systems, including Learning & Development database and online learning applications
  • Recommends changes to enhance training curriculum and varies instructional methods to improve effectiveness of programs

 

Other Duties 

  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses 

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 3 – 4 years of similar or relevant experience

 

Demonstrated Knowledge 

  • Ability to deliver presentations
  • Organized, efficient and detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle problem solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Blaze key systems and applications, including DNA, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and CIC
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of BVS Learning Management system for training administration
  • Knowledge of Adobe Connect, Teams, WebEx, and/or Zoom for remote training delivery

 

Communication Skills 

Ability to develop and implement responses to members/staff to document and develop new and ongoing techniques to improve processes; written communications draw from expert information from the field whether as an individual contributor or manager. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

 

Physical Requirements 

Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal staff and the public on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.
