Sprinkler Service Project Manager Intern

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of this role is to learn materials and labor practices for the installation of fire sprinkler systems.  The Company goal is to continuously grow the revenues of Service while maintaining profits, satisfying customers’ requirements, and staying compliant with NFPA guidelines. 

 

This job requires the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced multi-tasked environment with a focus towards customer development and support, quality work performance, and an understanding of all the necessary NFPA codes that support each fire system.  It will require travel to customer sites and may require overnight travel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Learn how to perform NFPA 13 installation of Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems, Fire Pumps, Standpipe Systems, and Fire Hydrants.
  • Learn how to perform troubleshooting of Wet based Fire Sprinkler Systems that can be described to owners and service managers for repairs.
  • Learn how to complete and submit all work tickets and test certificates inspection reports to administrative personnel in a timely manner.
  • Learn how to follow scheduled installations and repairs.
  • Learn how to up-sell the Company’s capabilities to new and existing customers.
  • Pass OSHA certification to perform installations from personnel lifts at elevations of 30-40 feet above ground level. 
  • Learn how to perform annual inspections on both Domestic and Fire Backflows.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Basic mechanical skills – including trouble shooting mechanical and electrical issues are required.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, scissors or articulating lifts is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Ability to achieve any required certifications, including NICET is required. 
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds is required.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods of time is required.
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) applications is required.
  • Experience utilizing a tablet, smart phone, and/or other technology is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Demonstration of a positive attitude is required.
  • Ability to think strategically, make sound decisions, and produce accurate and timely results is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand and walk. The physical strength rating of this position is classified as very heavy work which entails possibly exerting 100 pounds of force, 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or an excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or an excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. This employee may be exposed to a wide range of environmental conditions including inside, outside, temperature extremes, fumes, odors, toxic conditions, dust, poor ventilation, humidity, loud noises, vibrations, and wet conditions. Arm, eye, feet, head, hearing, leg, respiratory, and skin protection may be required. Operation of a computer keyboard and telephone may be required. Operation of manual and/or power hand tools is required. Understanding of addition/subtraction, simple math, simple drawings, technical reports, technical instructions, layout work, legal documents, simple memos, and business letters is required. While performing the duties of the job, this employee will be required to travel to costumer locations by land or air.
