Development Director for HPGM

Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee (HPGM) was formed in 2001 with the vision of showcasing Latino talent in Wisconsin and providing individuals with the support they needed to reach increasing levels of success in their careers.

Today, HPGM is more committed than ever to increasing economic prosperity and growing Latino influence for a stronger Wisconsin. Their vision is a Wisconsin where economic and social advancement is a reality for all Latinos, which remains at the core of their programming and initiatives. 

As HPGM grows and expands, they are continually creating programs tailored to the needs of the diverse membership base, reaching across sectors and experience levels. HPGM currently has three important positions available to lead us through this growth. 

The Development Director, Program Manager, and Communications Director will individually and collectively play a key leadership role in HPGM’s growth and evolution. HPGM serves more than 3,600 students and professionals annually in Wisconsin and collaborates with and supports more than 100 community organizations, corporations, educational institutions, employee resource groups, non-profits and small businesses. HPGM’s mission is to create a dynamic environment for Latino professionals to thrive by providing culturally affirming leadership development, mentoring, networking, and nurturing a network of support for Latinos in Wisconsin.

Development Director Position Overview

HPGM is looking for a Development Director (DD) who is passionate, strategic, organized, and adaptable. They are looking for someone with a proven track record of fundraising and/ or relationship management who is excited about strengthening and growing the HPGM fundraising program. This individual will serve as a fundraising expert and key relationship manager for HPGM, developing a robust and sustainable base of financial resources to support the short- and long-term impact of the organization.  The Development Director will also work closely with the communications team and President and Chief Possibilities Officer to develop and execute effective donor/member communications, and marketing collateral.

Essential Responsibilities

The DD partners with the President and Chief Possibilities Officer to inspire giving that advances our mission and drives awareness. The DD is accountable for creating and driving strategies to successfully grow diverse revenue streams and for creating a culture of philanthropy. The DD also ensures high-quality stewardship for our members, donors, and partners, as well as leads on member recruitment, retention, and growth.

  • Work with the President and Chief Possibilities Officer, Board of Directors and volunteer committees to plan, execute and facilitate fundraising, membership engagement and retention, and stewardship strategies that yield the necessary financial support to enable HPGM’s strategic value
  • Lead fundraising and sponsorship components of HPGM’s largest signature programs & experiences, annually - HPGM Gala, Adelante Juntos and Fall Summits, Scholarship Program, etc.
  • Manage a portfolio of partners, donors, and prospects—individuals, corporations/employers, and foundations
  • Partner with President and Chief Possibilities Officer, board members and volunteers to identify, cultivate, and solicit potential significant donors to help meet funding goals for HPGM
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison with the Advisory Council and Fund Development Committee, and as a resource to the Board of Directors on all matters related to fundraising, stewardship and membership
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed; Tracking donor/member engagement and retention rates, analyzing revenue streams, and making data-driven decisions that help HPGM achieve its fundraising goals
  • Manage grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities, electronic solicitations, grant/gift reports, and other fundraising support documentation
  • Set and manage progress to measurable goals for continuous improvement with member recruitment, engagement and retention
  • Serve as a leadership representative of HPGM and participate in media and presenting/speaking opportunities
  • Craft compelling donor communications and marketing materials that resonate with potential donors; Communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively in funding proposals, applications, and presentations
  • Collaborate effectively through timelines and project plans


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from college or university and 5-7 years of experience in fundraising, business development, or related fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership creating comprehensive fundraising and stewardship plans for various donor segments and various giving levels
  • Demonstrated growth in ability to manage projects end-to-end (concept to design)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage networks to achieve the vision of HPGM
  • Demonstrated fundraising success with soliciting and securing major and principal gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions that help an organization achieve its objectives
  • Experience with CRM databases and Moves Management technology is preferred
  • Passion for advancing belonging in the workplace and the broader community. Knowledge of/familiarity with the Latino culture and the serving ecosystem in Wisconsin.

The annual salary range for this position starts at $70,000.

This is a full-time hybrid position with 10-25% travel. Ability to travel independently within Wisconsin is necessary for programming/events, donor and partner meetings.
